As a project, the custom font family of the 0 Klingspor Type Archive itself is actually an example of how the digital archive can be used: it is inspired by the Koch-Antiqua by Rudolf Koch (published in Offenbach in 1927) and our creative exploration of the historical material. However, is not a redesign, but takes up elements and characteristics of the original and reinterprets them. We drew each cut individually – inspired by Koch's craftsmanship. This results in unique details and small inconsistencies that bring the typeface (as well as the original) to life.
In addition to the four weights Bold, Regular Sans, Regular Serif and Italic, we also designed a matching set of icons for the website navigation. A touch of broad nib, even in the digital world, is a given at Klingspor...
